Program Spotlight: CELE Student Resilience

Posted on Tuesday, December 15, 2020

Our CELE program (Center for English Learning Education) provides a rich learning environment where a diverse group of students form a community while growing in their English Learning skills. CELE is one of the International Education Department’s fastest growing programs, inviting students with varying levels of English to find a home away from home while improving their language skills.

Typically, CELE students attend Grammar, English Composition, Reading and Vocabulary, and Writing classes that challenge and equip them as developing scholars, leaders, and professionals. Students begin at level 1 and progress to the final Bridge level, which prepares them to further their academic career at an Undergraduate or Graduate level.

During COVID-19, the word that we associate most with our CELE students is resilience. Our students have navigated the tangible and intangible difficulties of living in a pandemic and they have done so while learning a second language! They are an inspiration to the International Education staff and teachers in the way that they pursue learning with an optimistic attitude.

Not only do CELE students dive into English Language Learning, they also enjoy creating a warm community as they work towards their educational goals. CELE students celebrate each other's victories, encourage one another during challenges, and have fun throughout the semester.
