Second Annual Faith in Society Lecture Series

Posted on Thursday, July 27, 2017

萌妹社区 is thrilled to announce our second annual Faith in Society Lecture Series, which will take place on Wednesday, October 4, 2017.

The Faith in Society Lecture Series cultivates dialogue with leaders who have contributed to their communities while incorporating values based on their faith. Speakers represent a variety of fields, with particular attention directed to areas of study offered at NU. The series was inspired by 萌妹社区’s deeply held belief that Christians in all fields can make a difference by fulfilling their callings.

This year’s speakers are Janet and Troy Weiss. In 2013, Janet was named president of BP Alaska. She is responsible for BP’s oil exploration and production activities in Alaska, its interests in the Trans-Alaska Oil Pipeline, and developing an Alaska liquefied natural gas project. Prior to this, she held various engineering and leadership positions in Alaska, Wyoming, the Gulf of Mexico, and around the globe. Troy had a fulfilling career as an engineer and supervisor working in Alaska, the Gulf of Mexico, and Egypt. He worked on problems and projects that involved drilling wells, designing large facilities, improving production out of large fields, and starting up wells on a world-class deep water platform. Janet and Troy are active in their church and community, and are regularly involved with youth and homeless ministries.

We are excited to learn and grow as a community. We hope to see you at the public lecture on Wednesday, October 4!
