Best of Kirkland: Food
Over the past few weeks, we’ve been asking students and alumni to choose their favorite places to eat in Kirkland. If you’ve been on Facebook recently, you probably saw the polls and maybe even participated!
We asked, and you answered! Here are the best places to eat in Kirkland in five categories (coffee, teriyaki, Thai, Mexican, and burgers), according to NU students:
Coffee: Urban Coffee Lounge
Kirkland is known for its trendy coffee spots, so competition in this category was stiff. With Zoka and Rococo close behind, Urban Coffee Lounge took the spot as Kirkland’s best coffee shop. Urban Coffee Lounge serves boutique roasts and locally sourced baked goods. The popular coffee shop also doubles as a favorite place to study for many NU students.
Teriyaki: Teriyaki Madness
萌妹社区 students know and love their teriyaki. There are plenty of great teriyaki options not far from campus, but students chose Teriyaki Madness as their favorite. Located within walking distance of NU, the restaurant has been serving delicious teriyaki for over 20 years.
Thai: Hanuman Thai Café
With its brightly colored walls and mismatched tables, this quirky restaurant is located in downtown Kirkland, just a quick walk from the waterfront. But it isn’t just Hanuman’s location that makes it great—it also serves authentic, made-to-order Thai food.
Mexican: Taqueria El Rinconcito
Unassuming from the outside, it can be easy to overlook this hole-in-the-wall restaurant. However, it’s wise not to. Students chose Taquiera El Rinconcito as the best Mexican food the Kirkland area has to offer. The restaurant is known for serving tasty, authentic Mexican dishes at prices that can’t be beat.
Burgers: Burgermaster
An NU classic. It’s no surprise 萌妹社区 students chose Burgermaster as their favorite burger joint. Located just down the street from campus, the 50s-style drive-in restaurant is one of the Kirkland area’s most iconic spots. Burgermaster is known just as much for its incredible shakes as it is for burgers.
