Announcing The Faith in Society Lecture Series

Posted on Friday, September 09, 2016

萌妹社区 is thrilled to begin a new annual tradition: The Faith in Society Lecture Series. The event will take place on Tuesday, October 4 and Wednesday, October 5, 2016.
The Faith in Society Lecture Series will cultivate dialogue with leaders who have contributed to their communities while incorporating values based on their faith. Speakers will represent a variety of fields, with particular attention directed to areas of study offered at NU. The event was inspired by 萌妹社区’s deeply held belief that Christians in all fields have the opportunity to make a difference by fulfilling their callings.

This year’s speakers are Richard McClure and Sharon Buchanan-McClure, a couple who has been devoted to public ministry and social justice for decades. Formerly president of UniGroup, Richard was also co-chair of the Ferguson Commission, created to study and recommend actions to combat social unrest in St. Louis. Richard and Sharon serve on the St. Louis area Young Life committee and on the Board of Governors of Opportunity International, the largest faith-based microfinance bank. You may have also seen Richard and Sharon on the show Undercover Boss. They look forward to spending time on campus this October.

We are excited to learn and grow as a community. We hope to see you at the public lecture on Wednesday, October 5!
